This website is owned and operated by FDIstats (“us”, “we”, “our”). By accessing or using the website and related services, including the data API, you agree to these terms, which include our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the website.

About our services

FDIstats publishes open statistics on foreign direct investment and provides economic research and technical advisory services on investment, trade and economic policy, primarily to government agencies, multilateral institutions, research organisations and policy analysts. We do not provide financial advice to private investors, offer investment management, or make recommendations about specific investment decisions.

Data from third-party sources

Most statistics on this site are republished from official sources — including the World Bank, the OECD and the Australian Bureau of Statistics — and remain subject to those sources' own licences and terms (listed on our sources page). Where a source licence (such as CC BY 4.0) permits reuse, you may reuse that data on its terms; please credit the original source and FDIstats as described on the sources page. Nothing in these terms restricts rights you have under a source licence.

Our content

Unless otherwise indicated, we own or license the text, graphics, analysis, research publications, software and site design (“Content”). You may view, download and print Content, and quote reasonable extracts with attribution, for personal, educational, research and non-commercial purposes. Charts and data downloads may be reused with attribution to FDIstats and the underlying source. Any other reproduction or commercial use of our Content requires our written permission.

API and automated access

We provide a free API for programmatic access. Please use it reasonably: cache results where you can and avoid excessive request rates. We may limit or block access that degrades the service for others. Do not scrape the website where the API or download files will do.

Accuracy and timeliness

We take reasonable care to present data accurately, but we make no warranty that information on this website is complete, accurate or up to date. Official statistics are revised, sources can contain errors, and our processing may introduce mistakes. Research findings and analysis reflect our professional judgement at the time of publication and should be read in their methodological context. Please check important figures against the original source.
